  • London, 27/6/22 [ → order of play ] Maja Chwalinska is a real naughty tennis maniac. Told her years ago that I’d expect some kind of a future for her. Capricious princess Siniakova probably is regretting by now the arrogance of giving away the first set to her opponent with a bagel. Parry with a good performance again, Haddad Maia out to Juvan, Collins out to Bouzkova in three, Udvardy conquers Zidansek.

27/6/22 – Have they gone entirely nuts by now in Stuttgart-Vaihingen (ITF W25) ??!! Wow, watch the names of their four courts: BAUKNECHT HAUSGERÄTE, STADT STUTTGART, LAPP KABELWERKE and EDEKA BAISCH. Not court one sponsored by Bauknecht Hausgeraete, court two sponsored by etc… No, only just the names of the bankrollers are needed any more by now to name a tennis court. Even mercenary FC Bayern Munich wouldn’t have dared to name their idolatrous temple just ALLIANZ instead of ALLIANZ ARENA. Probably very shortly prior to its complete and final breakdown capitalism rears up one hopefully last time, foppishly solemnizing itself in kinky narcissism. HOW PATHETIC IS THAT????!!!!!

  • London, 29/6/22 [ → order of play ] Well, of course congrats to Jule Niemeier for her spectacular win over [2] Anett Kontaveit. I’m a fan of hers and all, but I just have no doubt whatsoever that such a clear win of the underdog over this world class player never ever could’ve been possible with her opponent being on top of her game. There must have been very very serious issues of whatever kind in the body or between the ears of the on paper utterly superior Estonian. In our times it’s often a lack of match practice on the side of the favorites which makes them lose allegedly easy matches. Couldn’t watch the match itself but just watched an analytic interview on German SKY-TV with the re-play of some scenes. So after all it must have been a stunning performance of the young German indeed, which everybody on her side including myself can be proud of and happy with. The Germans are jonesing for success. Maybe though it’s not a bad idee to stay low-key with one’s hopes and perspectives. Niemeier has everything to become a top player. But it will not always be as easy for her as today. Let’s keep that in mind.

    Whazzup, Anett Kontaveit?
    London, 30/6/22 [ → order of play ]
    GOOD LUCK, KIRSTEN FLIPKENS!!!
Best wishes for Kirsten Flipkens, who announced her retirement after today’s Halep-match. Thanks for all the dense tennis moments you gave us over all these years.

30/6/22 – ITF W25 Stuttgart Vaihingen – A watchable match between Noma Noha Akugue (POV) and Katharina Hobgarski on BAUKNECHT HAUSGERÄTE. How nice to see the talented African-German active and playing well again. After trailing a set she forces a decider, a nice comeback from trailing 30, gifting a break to her opponent at 44′. ’45. 55′. 5’6. 57. The match won by the more experienced Caucasian. Fingers crossed for Noma! How nice it would be to read the headline one day that she won a grand slam for Germany. Pardon? Yes, I’m a racist, albeit in the opposite meaning of the word.

  • London, 7/7/22 [ → order of play ] In her quarter final post-match interview Tatjana Maria said she would be glad to play Ons in the semi. She described then at length, how much the Tunisian is friend of the family, always around with the kids and stuff. To give away the second set to her friend like she did today is a very very nice gesture, yet not so much fun to watch for the noninvolved observer. // Rybakina strong, Halep not herself.
