Elyne Boeykens | This morning ‘Sleepy Joe’ (with repaired glasses) went to his ‘To Do’ folder, where he stores files he already has selected and prepared for further editing and did a version of this one, then realizing that there is already a version ‘a’ and he had to name this one version ‘b’. With the luxury problem to like both even-handedly what else is to do than to bring both. Comparing them convicts me of the felony to sometimes changing the position of the player. In the upper image (version ‘a’) the position is original. I don’t blindly follow the rule of golden cut, but it seems a good thing to have the main statement of a picture not in the middle but in the right or left third of the composition. Since one can easily manipulate or fake that after having knocked out the background to black, to which temptation I often admit to be yielding, my only excuse is, that that recklessness towards reality happens only for reasons of improvement. Really good cameras and lenses come with such a fine resolution that one has the freedom to make all those decisions freely and easily since the space around the then chosen frame is large enough. I often decided to focus a bit too close for more precicion and intensity, which leads the formerly described measures to be necessary. Well, enough hypocritical apologies now. Feel free to enjoy the results as I do.
