So here’s the first of the two favorites I discovered in my Hechingen folders:
To use a 300mm prime lens on short distance, not to aim for the player on the other side of the net or from net level towards either player, which are the usual procedures, but to aim at the player on this side at baseline level, trying to catch the moment of ball contact with one single shot, is nothing but insane. The chance of success less then 10%. None of the pros would have the time to make such experiments.
But if one of fiftyish attempts eventually manages to realize the effect striven for the outcome is dense and intimate second to none. Something to be proud of.
An attentive bystander would have wondered what I am after by doing this. So, folks, here’s one of the very rare answers to that legitimate question.
